In this class, students will approach stories about ghosts through the lens of cultural studies and historical contexts. In addition to stories about ghosts and haunted spaces, students will be introduced to social criticism, religious studies, gender theory, cultural theory, and scientific theories that suit the story we are discussing. Students who want to understand psychological, scientific, or historical aspects of literature are encouraged to take this course.
