In class, students will discuss topics related to Japanese youth, namely gender equality, LGBT issues and sexual harassment, and compare how Japan and other countries perceive these issues. At the end of the course, students will collect data on a topic covered in class through readings or interviews/surveys and write a report about it. このクラスでは、日本の若者について英語で書かれた学術文献を読みます。内容は、ジェンダー平等・同性婚・セクシャルハラスメント等で、日本と諸外国がこれらの問題をどのように捉えているかを比較、議論します。また、授業で触れた内容について実際に文献かインタビュー・アンケート等でデータ収集をして、最終レポートを書きます。 Active class participation, including class discussions (25%) Weekly assignments (12%) Group work (15%) Presentation (15%) Research report (33%) 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance Innovative Public Speaking: Creating Dynamic Presentations in English This class will provide students with a strong foundation in understanding spoken English. Students will create and deliver Powerpoint presentations in class which will then be discussed and evaluated. In addition to classroom exercises and homework assignments, students are encouraged to listen to English on their own as well.
