By the end of this class, students will be able to present and discuss issues in a researched and structured manner. We will study advertising campaigns from TV, the Internet and print media, discover the sales messages contained in these campaigns and how they reach their consumer targets. We will also research the way similar products are marketed differently for different cultures or countries. In addition, we will evaluate the way different societies use PSAs (Public Service Announcements / 公共広告) to raise awareness of important issues such as Domestic Violence (DV), HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, etc. Topics covered will include: - TV Commercial Strategies - Print Advertisements Design Analysis - PSAs, CSR and cause marketing - Advertising controversies (political advertising, advertising tobacco and alcohol, advertising to children, gender and racial stereotypes in advertising.) 30%: Advertising Analysis Portfolio 20%: Learning Journal 10%: Report on Museum Visit (this may be replaced by an alternative task if the museum visit is not possible) 20%: Presentation 20%: Active contribution to the class 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 戦争・テロ・核兵器の問題を英語で学ぶ 本コースは、Jeffrey Haynes, et al., World Politics: International Relations & Globalisation in the 21st Century (Sage, 2023), third edition の中に収められている一部の章を教材として用い、その読解を行なっていく「リーディング」を主眼としたコースである。このリーディングを通じて、本コースの受講者は、今日でも国際政治における最大の懸案事項のひとつである戦争・テロ・核兵器をめぐる問題の基本的な事実や理論上の論点などが理解できるようになるとともに、この問題をどう克服したり解消していけばいいのかについて考察していくための基礎的な素養を身に付けることができる。また、現代国際政治の様々な問題に関する英語で記されたニュース報道、報告書、研究論文などを読み進めていくための基本的な語彙力・読解力が身に付いていく。 本コースでは、以下の３項目の合計点を基準に、各受講者の最終的な成績の評価が行なわれる。 (1) 平常点（１０点満点）：授業への貢献度などに応じた評価項目。授業時において発言を求められた場合の対応、グループ内での話し合いにおける積極度、小テスト（下記）の受験回数などをベースに、本項目の評価は行なわれる。 (2) 小テスト（３０点満点）：本コースでは、第２回（４月７日）から第１２回（７月７日）までの各授業が終了したその当日中に UTOL 上で受験可能な「小テスト」が、必須課題として課される。本項目の評価は、 プリントを配布する。／Will distribute handouts 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 授業科目名 授業科目名 担当教員 メズールール ジェルマン 担当教員 所属 曜限 英語 所属 曜限 英語 対象 理一(8,12)理二三(8) 対象 理一(8,12)理二三(8)
