Research in positive psychology demonstrates that a significant percentage of well-being comes from our own mindset, our chosen activities, and our lifestyle behaviors. To deal with the challenges in real-world life, we need to develop our internal resources to bring the best of ourselves. Specific topics include a brief overview of the key theories, research methods, and findings in the field of positive psychology, the goals and principles of positive psychology, the biological, emotional, psychological, and social influence on positive psychology, and the politics and economics of positive psychology among others. The course also involves the practical application of theory and research findings in the field of positive psychology. Additionally, happiness and well-being in relation to cultural patterns will be briefly discussed. Students critically evaluate the societal myths related to well-being and life satisfaction and reflect on their current personal life events to promote an understanding of positive psychology. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a series of scientifically validated, well-being-enhancing activities, and reflect on the processes of their own positive changes.
