However with this expansion comes the increasing entanglement of public education with private interests, issues of privacy and surveillance, the pedagogical challenges of educating for critical media literacy, and the reproduction of inequalities by the ‘digital divide’. In this course we will take a sociological perspective to explore these and other issues in the rapidly evolving world of EdTech. We will engage with leading scholarship in the field, representations in the media, and our own educational experiences to explore both instructor-and student-directed topics. Students will develop skills in academic reading, writing, presentation, and discussion. Weekly written assignments and active participation in class: 50%, Individual final research-based report: 50% (*completion of all components are required to receive a passing grade) 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 学術英語の入門編 文科系の学術で用いられる英語によくみられる動詞の使い方、表現の組み立て方（日本語の漢字熟語とも通じるような表現）に気を配りながら、英語で書かれた入門書を読む。学問分野ごとの特殊な専門用語が比較的少ない歴史学の入門書を取り上げ、アメリカ合衆国の歴史を特定の角度から扱った書籍を対象に、数章を読むことを目標にする。同時に、基礎的だがやや高度で、大学卒業までに意味の広がりも含めて習熟したい英単語について、意識を高める。 出席、授業での報告、毎週の小テスト、期末レポート、期末試験による。学期中に数回、追加の課題も出すことを検討している。 次の教科書を使用する。／Will use the following textbook 東京大学教養学部英語部会（編） 東大英単 東京大学出版会 978-4-13-082140-7 なお、上記の文献に加え、英文学術誌の論文から抜粋をして検討し、書籍と論文の文体を比較する予定。 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 科学技術論文を読む 非専門家でも理解が可能な科学技術論文（言語学を基礎とした認知科学系を中心とする）を読解し，科学技術論文執筆のための構文と文章構成および科学関連語彙に関する理解を深める．週2,000語（4 ~5頁）程度ずつ読み進んでいき，2 ~5週でひとつの論文を読み終わる．議論の流れを掴みつつ，大事な部分を丁寧に読んでいくことを心がける．講義で使用する資料はプリントもしくはオンラインにて適宜配布する．また，論文から理解した内容を実例で考察する課題実習や議論を実施する． 予習報告状況，授業時間中の課題実習の状況（「授業の方法」参照），学期末に行う試験を20%, 30%, 50%程度の割合で評価する．ただし，割合については，授業や学期末試験の実施形態に応じて変更する場合がある． 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 担当教員 Christopher D.
