Through visual image and media, this course introduces students to communication from a non-textual perspective. The principles, theories, aesthetics, and techniques of visual communication will be discussed. Visual persuasion, photography, graphic design, culture and ethics will also be explored. We will study advertising campaigns, famous posters and paintings, influential photographs, and other significant examples of graphic design. By the end of this class, students will be able to present and discuss issues in a researched and structured manner. Topics covered will include: - Print Advertisements Design - Poster Design - Introduction to Typography - Visual and Linguistic Landscape By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the basics of graphic design and use correct language to analyze and critique visual images.
