In this course, we cover some key topics across the physical sciences to help ensure students who have studied differing amounts of chemistry and physics in high school are on the same page. Grades for the course will be awarded based on attendance and participation in the group work activities (30%), performance in live online quizzes (10%), short written assignments (10% and a final exam (50%). プリントを配布する。／Will distribute handouts 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance What are gender and sexuality? How do identities based on gender and sexuality influence our thoughts, behaviors, and relationships? To address these questions, an interdisciplinary group of scholars will guide students in an exploration of genders and sexualities across different regions and time periods. Using the concept of “identity,” instructors will cover such topics as discrimination based on perceived physical attractiveness, queering Japan, toxic masculinity, and gendered moralities. In the process, the course will answer questions about how different expressions of gender and sexuality shape our experiences and how we can move closer to a society that welcomes and respects diversity. <> - to assess and compare case studies on genders and sexualities across cultures. - to develop and explain your own views on gender and sexuality using the concept of identity. - to explore how we might promote diversity and inclusivity in society. pass/fail based on: 1. short essay (midterm assignment) – Choose a topic on gender and/or sexuality that interests you and write a 500-word essay using at least 2 scholarly sources. 2. oral presentation (final assignment) – Using the feedback you received on your short essay, develop and give a 10-minute presentation. The presentation should include at least 4 scholarly sources.
