The course will begin by exploring how the continent has been mapped, and how European incomers and Indigenous peoples viewed each other. It will then consider how cultural visions of Australia have developed and changed over time. Students will be introduced to some of the ways Australia is interpreted today through an international touristic gaze, and how it promotes itself for tourism, including in Japan. The course will include close attention to how non-Indigenous Australians have ‘seen’ Indigenous land and people over time, and how in turn Indigenous artists and writers have reversed that gaze to assert the history and cultures of First Nations. The course is designed to introduce students to Australian history through the theme of how the Australian continent and its different cultures have been represented over time. Through a range of sources and interpretive practices, students will consider the shifting ways in which Australia’s landscapes, peoples, and society have been seen, and how Australia has projected itself on an international stage, over the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The course will increase students’ skills in critical reading, analysis, writing and research. Assessment will be in two forms: a) a class presentation based on a selected list of topics, and b) an end-of-term essay based on a selected list of topics. Further details on essay requirements, including due dates and topics, will be available early in 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook Richard White Inventing Australia: Images and Identity Routledge, 2020 978-0367718534 new edition 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance ドイツ研究入門 日本にとって、ドイツという国は特別の意味をもちます。日独関係が始まった19世紀後半以来、日本の近代化の過程において、学術的な思考とそれを支える概念が形作られるにあたり、ドイツの学術の影響は決定的な意味をもちました。 ドイツが歴史的に果たしてきた役割、また今日の国際社会において現実に果たしている役割に鑑みて、日本の人文社会科学の諸学問にとって、ドイツは今日なお重要な関心の対象でありつづけています。ドイツを知らずしてヨーロッパを理解すること、近現代の世界の動きを理解することはできないでしょう。また、世界でも屈指の研究環境をもつ大学、研究所等を多く有するドイツは、人文社会科学のみならず、自然科学、工学、医学などありとあらゆる領域の研究者が研鑽を積む研究の場としての意味をもっていることにも注意を払う必要があります。 研究対象としてのドイツに関心がある人も、研究の場としてドイツを選択肢に入れられるかもしれないと考えている人も、大学生の一般常識としてドイツについて最低限のことを語れるようになりたいと思っている人も含めて、今日のドイツについて分かっておきたいと考えるあらゆる人のために、この授業では、後期課程地域文化研究分科「ドイツ研究コース」およびドイツ・ヨーロッパ研究センター（DESK）の教員4名が、それぞれの専門（歴史学、政治学、文学・思想）を生かして、近現代ドイツのよりすぐりのトピックを解説します。 学期末試験の成績により評価する。 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 担当教員 速水 淑子 担当教員 アマンダ ネテルベック 所属 地域文化研究専攻 所属 地域文化研究専攻 曜限 曜限 対象 対象
