In regard to content, from the third scheduled class meeting, students will be expected to have read an assigned part of the book “An Interview with Prānavichāra about the Subject of Ethics” and to be prepared to answer some questions and/or to write a short essay during class time. In conventional class meetings, the teacher is likely to provide additional or explanatory information before the questions and/or essay prompt are given, and in the the event that any class needs to be done online, the questions and/or essay prompt will be given at LMS near the beginning of the allotted time period and the answers and/or essay will be due near the end of it. Innovative Public Speaking: Creating Dynamic Presentations in English This class will provide students with a strong foundation in understanding spoken English. Students will create and deliver Powerpoint presentations in class which will then be discussed and evaluated. In addition to classroom exercises and homework assignments, students are encouraged to listen to English on their own as well. Gender and youth in Japan ジェンダーから見る日本の若者 The aim of this course is to enable students to read and critically engage with academic articles written in English about gender issues. In class, students will discuss topics related to Japanese youth, namely gender equality, LGBT issues and sexual harassment.
