In addition to removing these barriers, calls have been made to acknowledge and de-center the dominant Western-centric modes of knowledge production and create inclusive spaces for alternative and indigenous ways of teaching, learning, and knowing the world. In the first half of the course we will explore some of the challenges and opportunities for inclusion of persons with disabilities, and ethnic, gender, and sexual minorities in education systems, with an emphasis on Japan. In the second half we will investigate alternative and indigenous philosophies and models of education, with an emphasis on the global South. The cases covered in class are unavoidably non-exhaustive, and students will be encouraged to research additional topics of interest and share these with their classmates. We will engage with leading scholarship in the field, representations in the media, and our own educational experiences to explore both instructor-and student-directed topics. Students will develop skills in academic reading, writing, presentation, and discussion. はじめてのニュース英語 ースを通じ、ニュース番組で使われている「生の英語」の速さに慣れることを目指す。 現代アイルランド文学の短編を読む 講義題目 授業の目標概要 現代アイルランド文学を代表する作家による短編をいくつか読みます。英語の文学テキストを読みながら、英文の読解力を向上させ、異文化に対する理解を深めるのがこの授業の主な目的です。短編ごとに、担当教員が作家と時代背景について説明するので、文学やアイルランドについての知識がなくても問題ありません。この機会に外国文学を読んでみようという方、大いに歓迎します。 Christopher D.
