In class, students will discuss topics related to Japanese youth, namely gender, sexuality and bodies/pop culture. Students will also collect data on a topic covered in class through readings or interviews/surveys. このクラスでは、日本の若者について英語で書かれた学術文献を読みます。内容は、ジェンダー・セクシャリティ・身体/ポップカルチャー等です。また、授業で触れた内容について実際に文献かインタビュー・アンケート等でデータ収集をします。 Exploring the Human Condition through Dialogs The objective of the course is to get some practice using the English language by reading dialogs in which the speakers talk about important or interesting issues, writing answers to questions about chapter contents, and either preparing oral presentations and performing in front of the class or (in the event of the course having to be online) writing essays. The course is built around a textbook which contains dialogs that touch on subjects related to education, the natural sciences, the humanities, the social sciences, and technology; the chapters include a two-page dialog, a photograph with a thought-provoking caption, a written exchange between the editor and author of the book, and five general questions.
