Working through a series of comparative case studies, your class activities will be based around group discussions, presentations, in-class readings and student-led work - each designed to help develop your verbal and analytic skills in English language. Students will examine folklore from a cross-cultural perspective, exploring folktales, ghost stories, myths and legends from the geographical East and West. As well as assessing the role of folklore from both contemporary and historical viewpoints, the class will also introduce students to methodological approaches in the investigation of folklore. You will be required to write a research paper and give short presentations in English, as well as to undertake various homework tasks throughout the course (readings, creative assignments, compiling research etc.). The class will be based on in-class discussion, written responses and presentation of ideas in English. TED Talks - Discussions and Presentations The primary goal of this course is to develop students’ confidence in using English to converse spontaneously on a range of topics. Through discussion activities and presentations, students will develop and strengthen communication strategies to express themselves more accurately and smoothly. 楽園はどこにある―Marcus B.
