総合科目 Ｌ 英語中・上級 30315 30785 30786 31062 31063 講義題目 授業の目標概要 講義題目 授業の目標概要 講義題目 授業の目標概要 講義題目 授業の目標概要 講義題目 授業の目標概要 Discussing Contemporary Society with Critical Theory この授業の目標は、現代社会における様々な問題を英語で批評的に考え、議論できる素地を 作ることです。ナショナリズムやレイシズム、ジェンダー、ポストコロニアル、環境、ケア といった批評理論の英語で書かれた／英訳された基礎的文献に触れ、そこから得られた知見 を活用して、現代社会で起こっている出来事をどのように捉えられるかを議論します。 Listening Comprehension This course is designed to help students improve their ability to apprehend and comprehend the English language in its spoken form. Students will learn to recognize, understand, and contextualize English expression as encountered in different genres and styles as well as in their own group discussions. During the first half of the semester, course materials will be selected from English oratory (formal speech), journalism, and storytelling. The topical focus will then shift toward history and cultural analysis based on educational films for youth from the 1950s. The films primarily address "manners" and appropriate social behavior. Edgar Allan PoeのThe Gold-BugとThe Black Catを聴く、読む。 ・有名なエドガー・アラン・ポーの代表作「黄金虫」「黒猫」を原語で読み、朗読を聴き、そのうえで、担当者を決めて順番に発表を行ってもらう。自ら積極的に英語に取り組むことを授業の目標とする。どちらも翻訳が多数出ている作品であり、翻訳を参照してかまわない。その上で、原文がどうなっているかを詳しく吟味していく。 Introduction to American Gothic Fiction This course is an overview introduction to American Gothic fiction. In this class, students will learn to read literature in an interdisciplinary way. They will approach American Gothic through the lens of American social issues and in the context of American history. In addition to stories, students may be introduced to history, social criticism, gender theory, cultural theory, and scientific theories that suit the story we are discussing.
