We will read extracts from a selection of short stories written by contemporary authors, including but not limited to the ones published in magazines such as The New Yorker and Granta. It is hoped that the course will help students not only to develop their reading fluency, but also to learn to enjoy authentic texts, as well as opening up new horizons. 開講 (クラス指定セメスター型) Online Discussion This class will focus on improving English-language reading and writing skills through the medium of text-based online discussions. The reading texts will be chosen from discussions that have taken place in the comments sections of the Hacker News website. The writing will take the form of online discussions among students online using a similar text-based BBS. The topics for both the readings and the students’ written discussions will be chosen based on students' interests.
