Each week students will focus on one topic and critically examine and consider an authentic English language text in an online group. extension activities will bring the discussion about the UK into a broader context. At the end of this course it is expected that students will be able to critically consider and assess a range of contemporary topics of domestic and international significance, and be able to reflect better on their own culture. Students will find that the online discussion skills acquired in this class will help them in other online settings; it is hoped the class will encourage students to see English language studies as an investment for the future. English Lectures on General Physics This course will provide lectures on a series of Physics topics selected to ensure a balance between presentation of basic concepts and terminology, diagrams and formulas as well as proper reasoning about the underlying principles and mechanisms, using adequate English language. Although mainly intended for students interested to major in sciences, effort is made to select stand-alone content, presented so that it could be accessible to those specializing in other areas as well. The main objective is to present students with practical, stimulating opportunities to experience English as a vehicular language (lingua franca) that future graduates will use for integrating into a multidisciplinary society and contributing to its technological advancement.
