You will read a variety of text such as newspaper articles, speeches, and short research papers during this term. It will help students to have a broad perspective on social issues and better understand current events in the world. You will also develop academic interests for the future research through the readings. Ghosts and Hauntings in American and British Literature This course is an overview introduction to fiction that concerns hauntings, ghosts, and warped spaces in American and British fiction. In this class, students will approach stories about ghosts through the lens of cultural studies and historical contexts. In addition to stories, students will be introduced to social criticism, religious studies, gender theory, cultural theory, and scientific theories that suit the story we are discussing.
