Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs, like many business leaders nowadays, likewise stressed that creativity differentiates average individuals and companies from exceptional ones. As important as creativity is said to be in today’s competitive global economy, what the creative process requires or involves is usually left unexplained. This course, therefore, aims to familiarize participants with what creative thinking entails, why it is important, where it comes from, and how individuals can improve their critical faculties to enable them to thrive in our era of rapid technological, social, political and economic change. By the end of the course students, besides improving their English speaking, listening, and writing skills, will learn: -- why creativity is becoming increasingly important in today's global economy -- how some of the greatest innovators in human history have applied creative thinking to achieve breakthroughs in the realms of science, business, and the arts -- how they can overcome thinking blocks, formulate effective questions, create the right environment for creative thinking, and turn their creative thoughts into action Writing assignments: 30% (10% + 20%) Presentations: (2 x 20) 40% Participation: 30% 教科書は使用しない。/Will not use textbook 特に行わない。/Will not conduct guidance 開講 授業科目名 (クラス指定セメスター型) American Short Stories Believe it or not, there is such a thing as literature in America, and the purpose of this course is to familiarize students with this strange thing called American literature, which is usually considered a “minor” literature from the viewpoint of the history of civilization in the world. In the process to pursue this purpose, students will find themselves in a situation in which they cannot avoid reading more in English than they did in high schools. As a result, it is not totally unlikely that students might be able to develop their “reading skills” (whatever this phrase means). At least, it is very likely that students will become “used to” reading a considerable amount of texts written in English. As an English language course, there will be lectures on grammar and syntax that are used in the texts, but overall comprehension of the story and active interpretation on the side of the reader will receive more emphasis. This course will be taught in Japanese. Grade evaluation depends on the quiz, participation, and the final exam. Those students who miss four or more classes will not be permitted to take the final exam. 授業中に指示をする。/Will specify at class time 特に行わない。/Will not conduct guidance 英語中級 英語中級 担当教員 ナルト デリック 英語 木 2 担当教員 吉国 浩哉 所属 曜限 教室 所属 曜限 教室 英語 木 2 対象 文三(14) 対象 文三(14)
