Recently, conveying information skillfully to others has become increasingly important. Research community is naturally expected to give presentations about their research in a various venue. Further, they must also give presentations at academic meetings and conferences once they begin research in a specific field. Taking its necessity into consideration, this class is designed to provide students opportunities presenting their research project(s) in English. You will introduce a brief outline of your research (e.g. research questions, research methods, brief summary of main arguments, etc.) to your classmates for 10 minutes. Your classmates will give you feedback on your draft presentation. With this feedback, you will improve your presentation. Throughout this process, you will be expected to learn how to make an academic presentation. It will focus on the work of the British writer Andrea Levy. Students will learn to engage with the language and ideas in the selected texts and to discuss their responses to the readings in class. Texts will be distributed in class.
