In class, students will discuss topics related to contemporary Japanese society, namely gender, the body and popular culture. このクラスでは、日本の現代社会について英語で書かれた学術文献を読みます。内容は、ジェンダー論・身体論・ポップカルチャー等です。 Active class participation, including class discussions (30%) Weekly assignments (35%) Final written report (35%) 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance 開講 授業科目名 英語中級 （クラス指定ターム型） Colonial Encounters This reading and discussion based course will use different texts to develop students' skills in English comprehension and discussion. the course will draw on fiction, essays and autobiographical writing related to the colonial encounter between Britain and the Caribbean. It will focus on the work of the British writer Andrea Levy. Students will learn to engage with the language and ideas in the selected texts and to discuss their responses to the readings in class. Texts will be distributed in class.
