The course will draw on fiction, essays and autobiographical writing related to the colonial encounter between Britain and the Caribbean. It will focus on the work of the British writer Andrea Levy. Students will learn to engage with the language and ideas in the selected texts and to discuss their responses to the readings in class. Texts will be distributed in class. The article is on the issue of opioids and society. Students need to read the article in five weeks to gain information in English and to be familiar with various issues in English. Through this course, students will improve their reading skills qualitatively as well as quantitatively through various activities in classes and at home.
