Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs, like many business leaders nowadays, likewise stressed that creativity differentiates average individuals and companies from exceptional ones. As important as creativity is said to be in today’s competitive global economy, what the creative process requires or involves is usually left unexplained. This course, therefore, aims to familiarize participants with what creative thinking entails, why it is important, where it comes from, and how individuals can improve their critical faculties to enable them to thrive in our era of rapid technological, social, political and economic change. By the end of the course students, besides improving their English speaking, listening, and writing skills, will learn: -- how some of the greatest innovators in human history have applied creative thinking to achieve breakthroughs in the realms of science, business, and the arts -- how they can overcome thinking blocks, formulate effective questions, create the right environment for creative thinking, and turn their creative thoughts into action Writing assignments: 30% (10% + 20%) Presentations: (2 x 20) 40% Participation: 30% 教科書は使用しない。／Will not use textbook 特に行わない。／Will not conduct guidance Thought is the means by which we elaborate who we are, assert our membership of a culture, authorise institutions within society, and make claims upon each other. Indeed, without any philosophical reflection upon society and politics, life today would have neither rationale nor articulated meaning. It is thus precisely at the cross-roads between our daily practices and taken for granted ideas that this course is situated in terms of an examination and critical analysis of a range of texts at the core of the intellectual inheritance of the West. Objectives: 1. reading, analysing and synthesising academic texts; 2. presenting, elaborating and defending arguments orally; 3. taking part in seminars and academic discussions; 4. structuring and organising ideas in a coherent and logical written form.
