Students will consider how these stories criticize nautical transport, slavery and the slave economy, colonialism, and human greed. This course is designed to engage students in interdisciplinary approaches to reading a text. This course also aims to teach students to deeply consider historical contexts when reading literature. Students who want to understand psychological, economic, or scientific aspects of literature are encouraged to take this course.
